For we are God’s handiwork,
created in Christ Jesus
to do good works,
which God prepared in advance
for us to do.
- Ephesians 2:10
Vanderbilt Learning Center
The Vanderbilt Learning Center (VLC) is a lively ministry of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church (VPC), serving children and families in PreK-2, PreK-3, PreK-4 and Kindergarten. VLC is an important part of our faith family and works closely with our Education Ministry Team. The school operates under the watchful eye and loving heart of Heather Mikes, Director and Director of Christian Education. The Learning Center Team consists of parents, teachers and staff working together to generate opportunities for student enrichment, support school operations, raise funds for educational initiatives and create a nurturing environment for both the enrolled students and their families. There is great joy in the daily work of building strong academic foundations and positive attitudes toward God, self, friends, family and learning.
Vision Statement
The Vanderbilt Learning Center provides young children ages two through six with meaningful opportunities to grow and develop with their peers in a high-quality, nurturing, faith-based environment. Its small group instruction, artistic enrichments and family-oriented programming ensure every child and family a joyful learning experience.
Mission Statement
The students, families and staff of the Vanderbilt Learning Center, a ministry of Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, are committed to becoming more thoughtful, caring and intelligent as we delight in our educational journey. We are getting to know God in our lives and working toward creating a more compassionate world. The Learning Center is a program for the whole child — providing a service to the community through the highest early childhood education to meet the physical, emotional, social and intellectual needs of each individual child in a loving, Christian environment.
