Worship Services
Worship Worship is central to our life together at Vanderbilt
Presbyterian Church. The congregation meets for worship
on Sunday mornings at *9am and 11am in the Sanctuary.
First Fellowship
held every Sunday from 8-8:30am provides time for praise music,
silence, prayers and a homily in the Chapel. Special services are scheduled throughout the year as
well.
*After Worship Service "Children's Moment",
children and youth may go to Sunday School. Childcare
available for children, age 5 and under for all services.
We welcome all children into the life of our church. We believe
children are created by God and are a gift of God. They are a
very important part of our church family and we value them for their
unique contributions. We are delighted to have children
worship with us. We are a true family of God with all
generations present.
During the Worship Services, parents and children can enjoy
discovering together the Children's Worship Bags. These
worship bags have been specially prepared to give children a quiet
activity during Worship Services.
You can find the worship bags just as you enter the Narthex.
First Fellowship. A New
experience of worship.
Sundays, 8-8:30am Consider joining us for the new, one-half hour long,
non-traditional Sunday morning worship service. We’re calling it
First Fellowship, “A New Experience in Worship,” built on the Taizé
model, but not exclusively a Taizé service. It will include music,
prayers, silence, Scripture and a brief message based on the
Scripture reading for the day. Childcare will be provided for
children 5 yrs and under. Older children will be expected to
participate in the worship along with their parents.
We will use a variety of hymns ranging from theologically
appropriate praise hymns to very familiar traditional hymns, perhaps
sung in a different style. We will celebrate communion once a
month on the present communion schedule by intinction only.
Taizè Evening Prayer Services
The Taizè Prayer Services with
candlelight and Taizè music are held in
the evening on designated Sundays at
5:30 pm in the Chapel.
In addition to prayerful, joyous music from the ecumenical community
of Taizè in France, the services include scripture, prayer and
silent reflection. The services are short (about 30 minutes),
and casual dress is encouraged. If you have not had a chance
to experience these wonderful services, we hope you will give them a
try.
Next Taizè Candlelight
Prayer Service: To be
announced in the Fall, 2008
Advent Season Special Advent services offer time for contemplation and
