“Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.”  ~1 Corinthians 12:4-6

The Church is the Body of Christ. Many places in scripture represent the church as the body of Christ with each member contributing to the whole. There are many different people in our church with many different gifts to share. On occasion, members are called upon to serve as Ruling Elders or Deacons. This is a distinctive leadership role calling for particular gifts and commitments.

The Congregational Nominating Committee needs your help. We are seeking names to consider for nomination to the session or board of deacons. Those who accept nomination should be available through the entire search time frame.

Can you help us? Those members who submit names for consideration should prayerfully consider the qualifications of those persons. While any active member of the congregation is eligible to serve, the main attributes to think about are: one who demonstrates a belief in the gospel of Jesus Christ; one who is a regular worship attendee; one who practices stewardship; and, one who participates in the mission and program life of the church. Both are three-year terms, beginning on June 1, 2018.

Fill in the Form. The form to the right is for you to submit suggestions of people whom you believe are qualified for the PNC. The Committee will receive these forms and prayerfully evaluate the needs of the committee and the particular gifts of the people who may fill them.

Because it is our intention to present a slate of nominees by November 1, please have your recommendations for next year’s classes submitted by September 1, 2017.

The Church is the Body of Christ. Many places in scripture represent the church as the body of Christ with each member contributing to the whole. This is a distinctive leadership role calling for particular gifts and commitments.

All Pastor Nominating Committee members are held to a high standard of living and service. The Session has identified five areas that promise a balanced Christian Life: regular worship attendance; participation in an educational opportunity; practicing personal stewardship through pledging and giving; joining in the fellowship of church community; and serving beyond ourselves in outreach and mission.  Members of the PNC should participate and be well versed in the total life of the church.

Committee meetings are usually held to meet the availability and convenience of most of the members. The estimated time frame of this commitment is six months or longer, as needed.

Based on past years’ experience, the Congregational Nominating Committee may receive more suggestions than there are available positions. It is the Committee’s hope that the congregation will submit names for consideration. Members should understand that, inevitably, many fine suggestions may not lead to nomination or appointment.

Because it is our intention to present a slate of nominees by November 1, please have your recommendations for next year’s classes submitted by September 1, 2017.
